If you received a door hanger, vegetation reduction work is taking place in your area by the Cottonwood Fire Protection District (CFPD) in partnership with CAL FIRE.


What We’re Doing

Crews are reducing wildfire fuels by:

  • Removing dead and hazardous vegetation 
  • Thinning brush and small trees 
  • Reducing ladder fuels and excess debris 

This work helps slow wildfire spread and improve community safety.


What to Expect

You may notice:

  • Crews working nearby 
  • Chainsaw and equipment noise during the day 
  • Vegetation being cut and cleared 

All work is planned to reduce wildfire risk while maintaining the natural landscape where possible.


Why It Matters

Vegetation management:

  • Reduces fire intensity and spread 
  • Improves firefighter effectiveness 
  • Increases structure protection 


Your Role

Maintaining defensible space around your home is one of the most effective ways to reduce wildfire risk. Small actions by residents make a big difference.
